John Kachelman

The Life Resources International organization is made up of church of Christ members who collect and ship clothing, furniture, and medical supplies or equipment to people in need around the world. As a Christian outreach, it is also committed to evangelism, using benevolent activity as a gateway to preach the gospel. The College Church of Christ participates in LRI as part of its benevolence ministry.
LRI is an organization founded by John Kachelman, until recently a member of College Church, and run with the help of his family. Kachelman began the charitable enterprise that would become LRI in 1999, while preaching for a congregation in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. A mission trip to the Ukraine, where he saw so many people living in "deplorable" conditions, sparked his desire to organize relief efforts. He has been located in Searcy since 2001 but coordinates relief efforts at locations all over the South. In addition to organizing shipments overseas and within the USA, he develops and maintains contacts with hospitals and businesses that over the last decade have donated millions of dollar's worth of items to the ministry.
